the classic pearl

Pearls have always been a classic choice of jewelry among women. Look in any jewelry box and you will always find at least one pearl necklace. It's all you need to dress up an outfit. At my college the dress code is business dress, which means suits, button up shirts, skirts, high heels, etc. One time the only clothing I had that was clean was a black pencil skirt and a grey tank top. So out come my trusty pearls. I received a lot of compliments that day on my outfit. All because of pearls.

One of my favorite ways to wear pearls is pictured to the left. Classy and funky at the same time. A little modern twist to the classic strand of pearls. You can buy a necklace like this or craft your own. All you need is a long strand of pearls and a brooch. Wrap the pearls around your neck to the desired length and number of strands, take your brooch and pin it around all the strands. Not only does this keep your necklace from chocking you during the day it also adds a bit of personality and flair to an otherwise ordinary strand of pearls. Whenever I wear my pearls like this I never fail to get a compliment.

You can pick up brooches pretty much anywhere and if you cannot for the life of you find one then just raid your grandma's jewelry box, there's bound to be some treasures in there.
